North Augusta saw resurgent growth in both its residential and commercial sectors last year after development took a hit in 2020.
The value of all new construction in the city over the past 12 months was just under $118.6 million, or about $1 million short of the 2017 boom year when Riverside Village went in near downtown. That total value last year represents a 27.8 percent increase over 2020 when the city saw $92.77 million in new construction projects.
Though residential developments had contributed the greatest share of that growth, the value of all new commercial projects grew over the previous year for the first time since 2017.
