Greater Augusta – Alliance for Fort Gordon Wins ADC Community Defense Award
Greater Augusta, Georgia – Alliance for Fort Gordon, has been recognized as one of the 2026 Great American Defense Communities by the Association of Defense Communities (ADC), joining Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana, and Jacksonville, Florida, in the program’s latest class Association of Defense Communities.
The Great American Defense Community program, launched in 2016, honors communities that have demonstrated strong, sustained support for service members, veterans, their families, and the broader community. Since its inception, ADC has recognized over 50 such communities nationwide Association of Defense Communities.
Greater Augusta’s – Alliance for Fort Gordon’s inclusion reflects its longstanding commitment to defense community resilience and integration. The city’s partnership with Fort Gordon and surrounding installations has fostered initiatives that strengthen both immediate military needs and long-term community growth. This includes programs that support military families, enhance local workforce readiness, and promote collaboration between the installation and civilian sectors.
The award was part of ADC’s 50th anniversary celebrations, which also featured the Homefront series highlighting enduring community support and future preparedness Association of Defense Communities.
